Tansa Clients
A Tansa Client is needed to send the text from a text editing or layout application to the Tansa Server for proofing.

The Tansa System 3 Client for Microsoft Word 2003 |
Tansa can be used with the desktop applications that most companies already know and trust. The Tansa Client works with these applications to send a user’s text to the Tansa Server, and then provides the user with an interface to view and edit Tansa’s results.
Nearly everyone in the company can be supplied with a Tansa Client and a Tansa Extension that will allow them to check the text in the documents they create. These clients all communicate with the centralized dictionary running on the Tansa server.
A Tansa Client must be installed on each computer to allow desktop applications to communicate with the Tansa Server. In addition, a Tansa Extension is needed to provides the text proofing service (spelling, text usage and punctuation) and hyphenation proofing service inside a desktop editing or layout application.
Tansa Clients are currently available for the following platforms:
- Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003, XP
- Mac OS X 10.3.9, 10.4.x
- Java™
The Tansa Client, working in conjunction with a compatible Tansa Extension, allows users to execute a Tansa session on a document they currently have open. The Tansa Client sends the text in the document to the Tansa Server, which analyzes the text and reports back its findings to the Tansa Client.
From within the Tansa Client, the user can approve or reject Tansa's suggested corrections for spelling, text usage and punctuation. The client also allows the user to send new dictionary word suggestions to the Tansa administrator.
Note: The hyphenation functions are only available to customers that have purchased the add-on Hyphenation Service for the base Tansa system.

Third-Party Extensions
It is possible to use Tansa with some third-party, proprietary editing and layout applications — if the creator of that application has developed their own integrated Tansa Extension (using the Tansa Software Development Kit).
Several makers of editorial content management and workflow systems have developed their own Tansa Extensions. To find out if your system workflow system is compatible with Tansa, contact your system vendor or contact Tansa Systems.
