Tansa Systems AS, a provider of advanced text proofing tools available in several languages, is pleased to announce that it has signed a new licensing agreement with the Associated Press (AP).
The agreement will allow Tansa to include the complete style and spelling data from the current editions of the AP Stylebook as part of the solutions the company delivers to its customers in the United States.
“Tansa is very excited about working with the editors of the AP Stylebook,” said Managing Director Morten Krøtø. “In the next twelve months, we hope to be able to deliver the first application capable of checking content for AP Style violations.”
Online or in print, the AP Stylebook is the essential tool for all writers, editors, students and public relations specialists. The AP Stylebook offers guidelines on spelling, usage, grammar and punctuation, with special sections on business and sports.
Unlike any other spelling checker you’ve ever worked with, Tansa proofreads content by looking at the words in context, making it capable of checking not only the spelling of words, but also the usage of words and the style of writing. Tansa accomplishes this by checking written text against a dictionary and set of style rules customized specifically for each publication that purchases Tansa.
The AP Stylebook data will be provided as an additional component of a custom Tansa dictionary solution.
Tansa’s developers and Language Department employees are currently working to integrate the AP Stylebook data into the Tansa Text Proofing System. Tansa Systems expects to be able to deliver solutions utilizing the AP Stylebook data by the end of 2006 and early in 2007.
